A 38-year-old teacher from Kingston has been charged after police reportedly discovered a firearm, ammunition, and several imitation guns during an early-morning operation at his Colbeck Avenue residence on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Yraerc Creary, according to a police statement issued on Sunday. He has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
Reports from the Hunts Bay Police indicate that around 5:45 a.m., a police team searched the premises as part of an ongoing operation in the area. During the search, officers allegedly found one 9mm pistol and fourteen 9mm rounds of ammunition concealed inside a clothes basket in the bedroom.
Further checks reportedly led to the discovery of four imitation firearms stored in a safe, along with two projectiles, two ballistic vests, and a face mask on a dresser.
All items were seized, and Creary was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged following questioning, as investigations continue.
