Police have released the identities of the three men who were fatally shot during an alleged gun battle with law enforcement officers in Linstead, St Catherine, on Monday night.
The deceased are:
- Rohan Barrett, 24, of Cedar Grove, Portmore, St Catherine
- Davian Francis, 25, a fruit vendor of Riversdale district, St Catherine
- Tyrese Wright, 23, a mason also from Riversdale

According to police reports, around 10:30 p.m., officers attempted to intercept a white Toyota Axio carrying five men along the Linstead bypass. The men reportedly opened fire, and a fierce shootout ensued.
When the gunfire subsided, three men were found dead, while two others escaped. Two police officers were also shot and injured—one remains in stable condition in hospital, while the other was treated and released.
A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Following an extensive overnight manhunt, one of the two men who escaped was captured early Tuesday morning during a targeted police operation in wooded areas along the train line in Linstead.
“The man was found hiding in bushes near the train line. He appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, likely sustained during the exchange of gunfire,” a police source said.
The suspect remains in custody as investigators continue to search for the second fugitive, who is still on the run.
Authorities believe the group may be connected to a criminal network operating across Ocho Rios, St Ann, and St Catherine, and are probing the men’s activities and intentions on the night of the confrontation.
The vehicle, investigators say, had just exited the toll road when its occupants allegedly opened fire on the police team that attempted to intercept them.
