Four people are in custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm during a police operation in Manley Meadows, Kingston, on Monday night.
Reports are that about 10:50 p.m., members of the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at a premises in the community. During the search, a Smith & Wesson pistol with a magazine was allegedly found hidden in a brown and plaid handbag beneath clothing in a board closet.
The four individuals taken into custody have not been named. Police say the operation forms part of their wider efforts to disrupt criminal networks and rid the streets of illegal weapons.
