Constable Found Dead in St. Elizabeth—Suicide Suspected

St. Elizabeth, Jamaica — Police are investigating the suspected suicide of Constable Arnold Wilson, who was found dead at his home in Williamsfield District, St. Elizabeth, on Wednesday afternoon.

Constable Wilson, who was attached to the Half-Way Tree Police Station in St. Andrew, was reportedly battling mental health challenges and had been on medical leave at the time of his death.

Reports indicate that around 5:30 p.m., a neighbour discovered his body hanging from an ackee tree in his yard and raised an alarm. Lawmen were called to the scene, where the constable was found with a rope around his neck.

According to preliminary information, Wilson had been undergoing treatment and was deemed unfit for duty. Family members shared that his mental health had declined following the recent death of his father overseas.

Investigators from the Santa Cruz Police are probing the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
