Police investigators in Manchester have launched a probe following the discovery of a woman’s body in the rural community of Shirehampton on Tuesday morning.
The victim, believed to be about 54 years old, was found lying along a roadway with a wound to the head and a knife embedded in her neck.
According to preliminary reports, the woman was last seen alive sometime after 9:00 p.m. on Monday, when she left a shop in the community situated between Huntley and Maidstone.
Residents stumbled upon her body early Tuesday and alerted the authorities.
The police have not yet released the woman’s identity, and investigators are still working to determine a motive for the killing.
