Police in St Catherine have launched an investigation into the death of a 55-year-old man, whose body was discovered in his yard in Kitson Town early Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Andrew Nelson, a merchandiser of Mary’s Field in the community.
According to reports from the Guanoboa Vale Police, Nelson reportedly went outside around 5:10 a.m. to water his plants. Sometime later, he was found hanging by an electrical cord around his neck in an unfinished section of his yard.
When police arrived, Nelson’s wrists were observed to be slashed, and a knife was found beside the body.
The body was subsequently removed from the scene, and investigators say suicide is suspected. A post-mortem examination is to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
