Police, School Community Intensify Search for Missing Manchester High Student

Police, students, and staff of Manchester High School are continuing their search for 12-year-old Jayden Smith, who has been missing since last Friday after school.

On Wednesday evening, officers converged on the Wesley Road area of Mandeville following reports from residents who claimed to have spotted a child resembling Jayden. According to eyewitness accounts, the boy ran off after citizens attempted to approach him.

One woman who witnessed the incident said, “I was driving when I saw him, and a man was calling out to people for help. The boy was running. There was a taxi passing at the time as well, but by the time I turned my car around, he had already run off.”

Police confirmed that they were alerted about the sighting around 6:00 p.m., and teams of officers and community members immediately began combing the area. However, as of 7:30 p.m., the child had not been found.

The search intensified on Thursday, with Principal Jasford Gabriel, members of staff, and more than 100 students from Manchester High joining the efforts in the Wesley Road area.
