Execution at the Domino Table: “Scarface” Slain in Savanna-la-Mar

SAVANNA-LA-MAR, WESTMORELAND — The peace of Cook Street was shattered on Tuesday night, January 13, after a gunman brazenly executed a local man in the middle of a social gathering.

Nicholas Reed, 43, known to many as “Scarface” or “English,” was a frequent face at the Scamalene mini-mart. At approximately 11:00 PM, Reed was engrossed in a competitive game of dominoes with friends—a staple of Jamaican community life—when the atmosphere turned deadly.

According to police reports, a lone hoodlum emerged from the darkness, walked directly behind Reed, and placed a handgun to the back of his head. A single, cold-blooded shot was fired, killing Reed instantly before he could even rise from his chair. The assailant made a swift escape on foot into the surrounding area.

When the Savanna-la-Mar police arrived, they found a scene of chaos and grief. One 9mm spent shell was recovered as forensic teams searched for clues. Residents are now calling for an increased police presence in the area as they grapple with the brazen nature of the attack.
