Road Rage Tragedy: Minor Collision Claims Life of St. Ann Taxi Operator

RUNAWAY BAY, ST. ANN — A celebratory night turned into a scene of horror in the early hours of Wednesday, January 14, following a fatal confrontation at a popular truck stop in the CLM area of Runaway Bay.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Paul Anthony Miller, a well-known taxi operator from Mount Edgecombe, affectionately called “Doggy” by members of the community. Miller, who was just weeks away from his 50th birthday, had stopped to enjoy a game on the machines at a local sports bar when tragedy struck.

Reports indicate that a silver Toyota Axio, driven by a young man known as “Mari” from Trelawny, collided with Miller’s parked Toyota Probox while attempting to leave the premises. What should have been a routine insurance exchange rapidly deteriorated into a heated altercations. Witnesses state that as the argument intensified, Mari allegedly drew a knife and inflicted several stab wounds on Miller, who collapsed and died on the spot.

In a dramatic twist of fate, the suspect and three passengers—who were reportedly celebrating a birthday—fled the scene at high speed toward Falmouth. However, their escape was cut short when they crashed into a JPS utility pole directly in front of the Runaway Bay Police Station. All four occupants were rushed to the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital under heavy police guard. Investigations are ongoing as the community mourns the senseless loss of a man described as a “hardworking hustler.”
