Four people have been arrested following the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition during a major pre-dawn police operation in Crooked River, Annotto Bay, St. Mary, on Wednesday.
Reports from the police indicate that around 6:15 a.m., members of the Area 2 Fugitive Apprehension Team, acting on intelligence, conducted a targeted raid at a three-bedroom house in the Crooked River community. The operation formed part of a wider crackdown across the parish, led by Superintendent Anthony Wallace, head of the St. Mary Police Division.

During the search, officers reportedly found a black Sig Sauer 9mm pistol with one round in the chamber and a magazine containing twelve live rounds in a bedroom occupied by two residents. All three occupants were arrested and later charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a fourth man at a nearby premises. He is suspected of using the firearm and was taken into custody on reasonable suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon.
In addition, police arrested five other individuals in connection with separate offenses, including possession of identity information, dealing in and trafficking ganja, and possession of an offensive weapon.
The large-scale operation, which involved approximately 150 law enforcement officers, is part of an intensified drive to dismantle criminal networks, recover illegal firearms, and enhance public safety across St. Mary.
Superintendent Wallace commended the joint team for what he described as their “tactical precision” and “renewed focus on targeting armed offenders.”
He reaffirmed the division’s commitment to protecting the parish, noting, “The St. Mary Division remains steadfast in its mission to make the parish safer for all law-abiding citizens.”
