Mavado Returns Home After Years Abroad

After several years living in the United States, dancehall star David “Mavado” Brooks has returned home to Jamaica.

The entertainer, who hails from Cassava Piece in St. Andrew, landed in Kingston on Tuesday night from Miami, Florida. He made a quick stop for a coconut jelly, which he jokingly said was to “wash off his heart,” before heading to a late-night meeting at the S Hotel.

Mavado was greeted by Delano Seiveright, Member of Parliament for St. Andrew North Central, and Senator Abka Fitz-Henley from the Office of the Prime Minister.

His return comes shortly after police confirmed that a 2018 arrest warrant for the artiste has been lifted, following a review of the case. Law enforcement officials say the matter is now considered closed.

Mavado’s reappearance on local soil marks his first visit since 2018, and fans have already begun speculating about new projects and performances on home ground.
