The Manchester police have identified the woman who was found dead with a knife lodged in her neck in the rural community of Shirehampton on Tuesday.
She is 52-year-old Loraine Davy.
Investigators say Davy’s estranged partner, who showed up at the crime scene, has since been taken into custody for questioning.
According to preliminary reports, the woman was last seen alive sometime after 9:00 p.m. on Monday, when she left a shop in the community situated between Huntley and Maidstone.
Residents stumbled upon her body early Tuesday and alerted the authorities.
Police investigations into the gruesome killing are ongoing.
