The investigation into the death of Trelawny Parish Court Judge Ruth Lawrence has been formally taken over by the Major Investigations Division (MID) and the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB).
The update was provided on Thursday by Senior Superintendent Derrick Champagnie, Deputy Commander of the CIB, who confirmed that a post-mortem examination was carried out today to determine the official cause of death. He noted that the police will decide on their next steps once the results are reviewed.

Judge Lawrence, 59, was reportedly found at her Coral Springs Village home on Tuesday morning after allegedly ingesting poison. She was taken to the Falmouth Hospital by her spouse, where she was pronounced dead later that evening.
The judge’s sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the judiciary, with the Chief Justice and other members of the legal fraternity expressing deep sadness at her death.
